Exposure Assistant is a handy photographer's utility that helps calculate correct exposure settings for those times when the in camera exposure options are not flexible enough. It is primarily beneficial in two situations:- DETERMINING LONG…..
Rated 4/5 based on 3 customer reviews.
Nice app, needs improvements
I got this app to use with an old Yashica rangefinder that doesn't have any automatic mode and you need to calculate correct exposure based on EV number that the camera provides you.
This app lets you change all the values, aperture, shutter speed and ISO, and it gives you a EV based on these parameters. Sadly, the software doesn't let you select the EV number, so you basically you have to keep changing the values until you get the right EV, the same that my cameras gives me.
Some light meters gives you only the EV value, and it would be great to have the option to calculate the right exposure based on the EV value.
Still this app does the job, but I'm looking forward to and update that gives me exposure based on EV.
Excellent for night photographers

Imagine this situation: you're in the middle of night somewhere out there and you want to take technically quality photo of that stuning night scenery. You will probably need to find out how set the exposure setting on your camera, because it'll probably be exposure of one minute or longer... so, how to find out the right time to got correctly exposured picture?
First of all, you have to compose and focus. Then set the highest ISO and lowest apperture and try exposition of 5 secs in BULB mode. Pic is too dark? OK, go to 10 secs. Exposured correctly? Right, but you have ugly (because of low apperture) and noisy (high ISO) picture. So how to get a better one? Easy!
Run Exposure Assistant. Put ISO1600, f3.5 and 10 secs into 'current camera settings'. Then set ISO100 and like f8 in 'value you want to calculate'. App will calculate you time of exposure 14 minutes. Oh, maybe this is too long, so set ISO200 and f7.1. Now you got five minutes exposure, but still no noise and good technical quality, so put your camera into this settings, set five minutes on you timer and shoot!
This is how I use this app and I rate it 5/5, because I was looking for something like this for very long time.
Less stuff to cart around
This is great I no longer need to cart around a chart to help figure out what settings I need on my camara
